In this episode, we are only dealing with 1 chapter in the Book of Acts, because I believe there are various lessons in this chapter that shed light on issues in the modern church. In fact, I would like to submit to you that if the church at large read this chapter with intent, we could solve many problems.

Many of the issues avoided by the early church has become pitfalls for the modern church, and today we are going to explore a few fallacies some have fallen into.

In pre-Nazi Germany, Hitler took note of his audience's grievances, and like any mastermind, knew that his audience needed someone to blame. Hitler harnessed the hatred they already felt in secret, and made it socially acceptable to act on this hatred in public. Just like Adam in the Garden, we are quick to point the finger and cast blame. We are quick to find scapegoats to bear all the misplaced weight of anger or hurt that we feel.

However, ironically, when we do so, we reveal our own sinful and prideful hearts. Be careful of listening to those who play with your emotions and who make scapegoats out of others, whether friend or foe. We need to stop allowing Hitler's "Blame Game" to cause division and destruction in the Body of Messiah, and instead love like Yeshua loved.

When we recount the stoning of Stephen and his death as the first martyr, we think on his great sacrifice for what he believed. But even more importantly, perhaps, we should ask about his famous last words where he explains what his faith really was. Was he dying for a new religion invented by Jesus in the first century? Or was he a part of something that started in the garden - handed down to Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Moses - fulfilled by Jesus? Perhaps Stephen's faith was more ancient than new. More Hebrew than many would like to admit.

First Century Christianity wasn't another new religious invention, but considered a sect within Judaism in the first century. And even though deep separations exists today between Christianity & Judaism, it wasn't always that way. But if we considered our Messiah truly Hebrew, as Stephen did and died for, what would that change in how we lived out our faith? Many believers have found their identity in a denomination, a label, or a doctrinal creed. But are you a disciple above all else, first? A disciple imitates his Rabbi, and is willing to follow in His footsteps even when it doesn't make sense. We are called to be disciples of Yeshua, but how often do we find ways to do what "we want", instead of doing what our Messiah did? How often have we fought against following certain aspects of our Messiah's walk, simply because they don't fit our personal paradigm or doctrinal understanding?

To be a disciple means to surrender what makes sense to us, to give up control of how WE think things should be done...and simply - without argument or debate - imitate Yeshua by doing the same things He did.

Yeshua began the process of bringing His Father's Kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven, and then commissioned us to continue this process up until His return as King. Will you give up control and step outside of your comfort zone so God can use you to bring His freedom and light?

Has Social Media Made Us Hypocrites? It doesn't take very long of interacting with the Internet to realize that people seem... different. More fighting, arguments, and mean words are exchanged than anywhere else. In fact, we often can't imagine some of these things uttered in the "real world." But why is it that the Internet brings out the worst in even believers? And how should we act online as believers?
