The Coming Binding of Satan: 1,000 Years of Peace

Sometimes we receive questions, and I want to just respond to one here. I think it's going to be very helpful for you listening to this as well. This one is from Jessica from Rogue River. And the question is, considering Revelation 20, was Satan bound after Jesus's resurrection, and where is Satan now? Okay, so this question about Satan is quite important because I think it's a good opportunity to speak about the reality of what scripture says of the adversary. You know, I think the world likes to downplay and even among some believers, downplay the effects that the Satanic world has upon humanity. So where is Satan now? When is he to be bound? And what does it mean for him to be bound according to the Scriptures? Now I want to just open in Revelation 20, read a few verses here. This is also what Jessica referenced. Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent who is the devil, and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years and threw him into the pit and shut it and sealed it over him so that he might not deceive the nations any longer until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be released for a little while. So first of all, it's clear that this Satan character, the devil, this ancient dragon as he is described, has had a serious influence upon the world because the Bible describes this event of him being locked away for a thousand years as being very noteworthy so that he may not deceive the world any longer. Okay, that should already tell us that this. The level of deception is so deep and great upon this world from this character. If the Bible needs to make it clear that he has to be locked away for a thousand years. Okay, that's the first point. Now let's answer that first question of, you know, where is Satan actually right now? Now, in the Book of Job, there is an interaction between Satan and God when Satan challenges God with Job's life. And we see in Job 1:6 now, there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord and Satan came among them. And the Lord said to Satan, from where have you come? And Satan answered the Lord and said, from going to and fro on the earth and from where, walking up and down on it. Okay, so we see that Satan has the ability to come before the throne of God, first of all. Second of all, we see he's actually answering where he's been. And he says he's been walking up and down the earth, like, okay, so this is going to spark a question that's obvious. Have you ever seen Satan walk on the earth? Because I've not, you know, I've not seen him. And so we have to ask, you know, what does this thing actually mean? In 2 Corinthians 12, we get this story from Paul the Apostle where he's talking about someone who went to Paradise. He says, I know a man in Christ who 14 years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether in the body or out of the body, I do not know. God knows. And I know that this man was caught up into paradise. When we walk up to someone on the street and say, where's heaven? They're going to point up into the sky. This man didn't go floating up into the sky in the clouds like we do when we get on an airplane. He went to a place called paradise, the third heaven. This is referencing another dimension that is spiritual. A place that we cannot see with our own fleshly eyes. And God uses earthly terms like heaven and earth to try and describe it, to help us get a reference point to begin to understand, but we cannot understand. He says in the Scriptures, no man has imagined what the Lord has prepared for those who love him. I want to submit to you that in the same way that when we read about in the story of Job, Satan telling God that he was walking up and down on the earth, he's not talking about the physical earth realm as we think of it either. He's talking about the spiritual realm. The there is a parallel spiritual realm that runs alongside the physical that we can't see on earth and in heaven. And so Satan was cast down to earth, but he's in a spiritual realm upon the earth. So I hope that helps explains where is Satan right now? We know he's still around because, well, just look around you. The reality of this Satanic deception is that we are seeing today runs deep. This presence on the earth also becomes more evident than ever when we see Jesus show up in the first century because know that the people understood that there were demons. But when he shows up, the demons start manifesting and the light that is in him scatters this darkness on the earth. And the demons that before were terrifying people are now terrified of the Christ, the anointed one, the Messiah. And I want you to just look at one verse, one instance of him confronting demons. In Mark 5, 7, it says, and crying out of a loud voice, he said, what have you to do with me, Jesus, the son of the most High God, I assure you By God, do not torment me. Me. Okay, so it's little comedic, little funny, because the demons are so terrified that it's saying to Christ, you need to swear to God that you're not going to torment me. It's just funny that even in that moment, these demons have the audacity to tell Christ what to do. Yeah. You know what I mean? They have been inflicting this person for who knows how long and for in his previous generations, for who knows how long. And now when Christ shows up, when God comes and confronts them, they have something to say. Another thing is these demons are concerned with being tormented. And I want to submit to you that there's beauty in this story, and that is that, number one, God has the authority. Christ has the authority over these demons, and that's what he does next. He deals with them. And more good news to us is that he's given us authority. In Luke 10:19, he says, Behold, I've given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven. I want to remind you that this is not the 12 disciples he's telling this to. For those who want to say, oh, this is just the 12 who had this authority. No, no, no, this is Luke 10. This is a multitude of disciples now that he's raised up to send out into the areas. And they've come back and said, oh, my, the demons are subject to us. They're actually going when we cast them out. And Christ says, don't rejoice in that. Rejoice that your name is written in heaven. Which is a profound statement because we take so much admiration in our salvation, and we should, because that is our greatest miracle and wonder that God has done for us. And Yeshua is coming to say to them that the power that you've been given over demons is nothing compared to the rejoicing that you should have in your salvation. And it's backwards for us because we get so surprised when we realize that we have power over demons. And, you know, our rejoicing in salvation is kind of like, yeah, we take that for granted at this point. And this is what happened to those who are in Luke 10. So Christ is saying, have priority. Recognize that, like you, having authority over these demons is no big deal. Don't be shocked by it. The disciples were shocked that the demons were subject to them. And we are Shocked when we've discovered that. And all this just tells us that many believers really have no idea how much power God has given them through prayer and through fasting. Now that doesn't mean that we can control other people's decisions. It doesn't mean that every trial can just be prayed away. Sometimes we need to go through the fire to be on fire for God. That's what all of his disciples had to face. But despite the plans of Satan's kingdom to destroy our lives, God is telling us that he has power over all the enemy's plans. And that's what he has given us. I want you to be reminded of Joseph, who was betrayed by his brothers, falsely accused of sexual immorality, locked in a prison, to be forgotten forever. I mean, just think about what was happening in the spiritual realm. Satan saw that God had this amazing plan and calling on Joseph's life when he gave Joseph all these dreams of his family, family bowing down to him when he was a child. And so Satan did everything he can to set Joseph up, to discredit him and lock him away forever. I mean, Satan rejoiced with his kingdom. He thought when Joseph was locked up that he's just destroyed Joseph's life. He got to influence and stop God's calling and destiny for Joseph. I mean, Joseph had nothing left in that prison cell but chains and prayers. And God used all of these things that were happening to Joseph to bring about a great wonder to the whole world, eventually bringing Joseph out of prison and saving the known world from starvation. Today, many people around you are also going to one day face famine. And the trials God allows around you will one day feed them and save their souls. And you may not see all of this right now. This may not make sense right now, but it didn't make sense to Joseph when he was locked away or when Potiphar's wife bore false witness against him, or when his brothers threw him into a pit or sold him into slavery. But take heart. This is why God said, it is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. And I love that he goes before you before you go through the trial. He's already been there. Before you get confused. He's already been there. Everything you will face, every breath you will breathe, he's already been there. He knows it before it happens. He's not taken aback and he will use it. So don't worry about tomorrow. Because tomorrow is where God has Been already. So let's answer the rest of this question that was sent in. When will Satan be bound? And oh, how I look forward to that day. Right, Considering what we have to deal with. First there was the first coming of Christ. That was in the first century when Jesus came upon the earth, did all he had to do, eventually being crucified and he was resurrected from the dead. We are now awaiting the second coming of Christ where he is going to come in the clouds and and he is going to resurrect those who have died in him. Then there is going to be a millennial kingdom, a thousand year reign that's going to be set up upon the earth with Christ as the ruler in Jerusalem, where he will have the camp of the saints, where those who are resurrected from the dead will be with him there. We read about this in Revelation 24. Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those on whom the to judge were committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God. And those who had not worshipped the beast or its image, and who had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands, they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. Okay? And so it is in this moment where Satan is going to be bound. You're going to have a thousand years of peace because you're not going to have the chaos that comes with Satan being unleashed upon the earth as he is right now. And this is what we read in verse 2 of Revelation 20 where it says, and he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent who is the devil, and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, threw him into the pit, sealed it so that he may not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while. So what does all this mean? It means that there will be this thousand years of peace where there will not be any of this spiritual warfare. It's important to understand that mankind are influenced by four elements. Mainly we are influenced by the Holy Spirit, by the Satan, by our fleshly needs that are inherently selfish. And then we have our free will at play to choose good and evil. We see all of these elements at play. For example, when Jesus is in the wilderness, if he's there, he's got Satan there tempting him, saying, bow down before me, you've got his flesh. Because he's been fasting for 40 days and he's hungry his flesh, right? His body is just crying out, saying, I'm hungry, I need to eat, you know. And the flesh can also be very strong if just try and fasting for like four days, never mind four days, and you will find out how strong your fleshly cravings are to eat something. And then you have the Holy Spirit. And Christ had to use his free will to choose, choose not to bow down to Satan, choose not to eat and break his fast prematurely and choose to go the way of the Holy Spirit instead. If we removed the Satan from that equation and we just had the Holy Spirit, we had the flesh and we had the free will, things are already going to be much easier because the only thing really that there is to battle is the flesh, the fleshy desires. But in the millennial reign, which is going to be again after we are resurrected from the dead, that means that we are going to actually receive new glorified bodies. In other words, we're not going to have this flesh and Satan is going to be bound. So we're going to have free will and we're going to have the Holy Spirit. This is a beautiful thing because imagine, I mean, it's hard to imagine, but imagine a place, a people that are not influenced by their flesh, that are not influenced by the Satan, and they now they still have free will because that's what God made us with. But what a wonderfully beautiful life where it's no longer this thing where I'm doing things I don't want to do and the things I do I don't want to do, as Paul described in his letters, because I am not entrained anymore to this body of sin, because this body is going to die and I'm going to receive a new one. And so that's what the millennium is going to be like for those who are inside the camp of the saints and who are in their resurrected bodies. But now those who are outside the camp of the saints who are not going to be those who are resurrected, they are the survivors of his second coming. And we read about this in Zechariah 14:4. It says, on that day of the second coming of Christ, his feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives that lies before Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west by a very wide valley. So that one half of the the mount shall move northward, the other southward. And in verse 16, then everyone who survives of all the nations that have come up against Jerusalem shall go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of Booths. And so we see that there are people upon the earth at around the time of the second Coming who are not being resurrected from the dead, but they are survivors of the great Tribulation. And they are not in Jerusalem staying there as their home. Rather they are in the nations and the rest of the world. And they are commanded then in the millennium to travel to Jerusalem during the feast days to bow the knee to God and worship him. And so they're going to be in earthly body still. They're not going to be in resurrected bodies because they have not been resurrected. They're not going to live a thousand years. They're going to die as people do today. Because remember, 1 Corinthians 15:26 tells us that the last enemy to be destroyed is death. So death is only going to be wiped out as an enemy at the end of everything when the new heavens and the new earth comes, which is after the thousand year millennium. So these people of the nations are going to live and die. They're going to have children, they're going to live outside Jerusalem, and that's what that's going to be like. And at the same time, the Satan is bound. And so they're not going to be deceived by him for a thousand years. So they're going to have really a chance to decide without any demonic influence, to worship the one true God. But at the end of that thousand years, Satan is going to be released again and he is going to go around and deceive these nations again. And they are going to rise up against the camp of the saints in Jerusalem. We are going to presume that there will be, like today, people who refuse Satan and people who are going to allow themselves to be deceived by him. And we read then how this all ends in Revelation 20:7. And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison and will come out to deceive the nice that are all at the fire four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle. Their number is like the sand of the sea. And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. But fire came down from heaven and consumed them. And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulphur where the beast and the false prophet were. And they will be tormented day and night, forever and ever. So, long story short, bow the knee to God today, because things are going to get much worse for those who follow the devil. We see that after this that there will be a great judgment in Revelation 20:11, and then there will be a new heaven and a new earth comes down from Jerusalem. And so I want to pray for you here today. We are all under attack, an attack that is demonic right now in our midst because Satan has not been bound yet. Oh, how I look forward to that day. But it's not here yet. And we are also battling the desires of our flesh, which is inherently selfish and carnal and fallen since the Garden of Eden and that fall that occurred there. And so, Father, I pray that you would strengthen all who listen to withstand every attack of the devil, every plan that he makes against us, open our eyes of discernment, give us the power to take our authority that is rightfully ours, that you've given us by the power of your spirit, your Holy Spirit. Father, I pray that you would give an awareness to everyone listening that they're in a war, whether they like it or not, but that you have overcome and that you have given us weapons for warfare. I pray that the sword of the spirit would be placed in their hands, that they would know what they have. I also pray, Lord, you would help us overcome the desires of our flesh that are contrary to you and your spirit. Praise you. Thank you. Name Yeshua. Amen. I hope that this was a good taste of things to come and I'll see you. Sa.
Where is Satan right now? When will he be bound? And what does it actually mean that Satan will be bound?
To answer this, we need to break down the Millennial Reign of Christ (the 1,000 years of peace), what life will look like with no satanic influence, the difference between resurrected saints and earthly survivors, and why the devil must be released one final time before the New Heaven and New Earth.
Let all know that Christ has given believers incredible authority over the kingdom of darkness!
