Don't let intrusive thoughts shake your identity in Christ.

One of the most common things we see as a ministry is that people write in regarding the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, and they are under the impression that they have committed it. They think that there is a separation between them and God. It goes something like this. They thought something that wasn't a good thought. They had an intrusive thought of sorts. And suddenly that's followed by a voice of sorts saying, there is no separation. I have hardened my heart against you or I will no longer listen to you. And they think that this voice is God's voice. And immediately they ask, you know, have I committed this? Because ever since that moment, I have found myself to be in a place where I struggle to pray. I struggle to trust God. I struggle to know that he's here. I think, in fact, that he has left me ever since that moment. And they are convinced that that moment was the moment that God has left them. Now, here's the one thing that I want you to understand because this is so common with intrusive thoughts. Everyone gets them. Everyone gets a thought. It's like when you stand over, you're at a bridge, and you just. You're looking down. And many of us have had this thought of, well, what if I jump now? Right? And even though none of us may have even had that suicidal ideation, truly, it's just this intrusive idea that comes out of nowhere. And so in the same way, brothers and sisters, you have to understand that we live in a world where there are many voices all around us. There are voices of God. Of course God speaks to his people. He's spoken to the prophets. He speaks to people today. But at the same time, there are other voices who. Voices of our own flesh, of our fallen nature, our fallen mind. And also voices of Satan himself and demons. We have to understand that they have the ability to, at times, influence our world. And their desire is to destroy us, our lives, our careers, our families. And that, of course, culminates with people actually hurting themselves. But even before we get to actually hurting ourselves, a lot of people hurt themselves spiritually by believing a lie. A lie that God is angry. God has forgotten. God has forsaken you, and God wants nothing to do with you anymore. And this was likely the lie that Adam and Eve also battled. Because right after they ate of the fruit, they went and they ran away. They hid in the garden, in the bushes, where God had to walk through the garden and ask, where are you? Why are you hiding? They were likely hiding because of guilt, shame, condemnation and guilt. And shame and condemnation has a voice, and you've probably heard its voice, the voice that we've been mentioning, the voice of I condemn you. The voice of you are to be ashamed forever. The voice of I can never be in a relationship with you ever again. But that's not actually what God said, because God's actions proved otherwise. God walked through the garden, sought them out, sought relationship, sought restoration. So when we have a thought that tells us otherwise, when we think otherwise, when we have, we've done something big or small and we think that has caused God to separate from us, remember that the Word of God, the Bible reveals to us God's a complete nature, character and desire. And his desire is to be reunited with mankind and reunited with you. So much so that he himself laid his life down to be reunited with you. That is the message of the Gospel in of itself. So that means that when you have a thought that says otherwise, you can come back to the word of God that says no. God's character is he wants me to be with me. He wants relationship. And if I've done something, he offers a path of forgiveness no matter what that is. The blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, also known as the unforgivable sin that we read about in the Scriptures, was a very specific sin. It was done by certain religious leaders who had full knowledge of who Yeshua said he was and also what he actually did, that he had the fruits of the Messiah, not only that he professed to be the Messiah. And one of the fruits of the being the Messiah was that the Holy Spirit would work through him the way that the Holy Spirit did. And their ultimate sin of the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit was when they called Yeshua right in front of their very own eyes. Them being first hand witnesses of him causing out demons and even seeing the fruit of that deliverance in a person still saying, this is someone who's doing this by Beelzebub, the prince of demons. And so they blasphemed the Holy Spirit. They said the Holy Spirit is actually a demon and that it is a demon that is casting out demons. That's why Yeshua said demons cannot cast out demons. A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand. You know, many people think they've blasphemed the Holy Spirit. And in just about every single case that is, especially if they're worried about it, they haven't. Because the people who were the actual blasphemers of the Holy Spirit did not care about the fact that Messiah accused them of such a thing. They in fact went ahead and crucified Him. Thereafter, their hearts were so hardened that they became careless and hardened against not just the Messiah, but then against the Father, God himself. Because the one who denies the Messiah denies the Father. So if you've had a thought, bring it to the Father and His Word and test it with His Word. Well, then you will likely see that you are actually in good relationship with the Father. But it is the enemy who's trying to lie to you to get you to think that you're not. So that you live as if you're not. Because you will live in the identity that you believe you are in. If you believe that you are in separation and that you are a reprobate and that you are cast off, then you may actually start living as you are. You may actually start living, living, thinking you are cast off. While in reality you should be living in the identity of a redeemed son and daughter of Christ. One who is redeemed, who is restored in a relationship with the Father. Live from that relationship and that identity and good fruit will flow from there. Many blessings to you guys if this has blessed you. Shalom, Sam.

Can you commit blasphemy of the Holy Spirit on accident? It’s time to set the record straight.

In this short discussion I address intrusive thoughts, and how to biblically respond to lying thoughts of guilt and shame that would try to separate us from God.
