You may have heard about the spirit of Jezebel. Many have argued and debated about Jezebel, but by the end of this teaching you will understand what it was that Jezebel did that was so evil. In the ancient world, words were taken seriously. People lived and died based off the words that they spoke. A lot of weight was placed upon the requirement of two to three witnesses to establish any charge. If someone said that they witnessed something, it was a serious matter. You are placing your reputation, your honor, your morality, and even your life on the line of your statement. Think about what we even read in the New Testament. 2 Corinthians 13:1. This is the third time I am coming to you. Every charge must be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses, even in Roman law. In the imperial Roman times we see that something called calumnia was a concept of law that involved the willful bringing of a false accusation. And the person found guilty of columnia was subject to the same punishment the person he falsely accused would have received. In the imperial Roman era, a charge of calumnia could also result from an ill considered accusation, even if it was made without malice. This is according to Musaraki's the historical institutional context of Roman law. Why do I speak of this? The spirit of Jezebel is this famous idea, this famous spirit that everyone wants to talk about, but is closely connected to the sin of bearing false witness. Jezebel's husband wanted land, but he could not get it. And so what she did is she took his seal, wrote a letter in his name to other leaders in the country, and instructed them to set up a false witness around the landowner so the landowner may be killed, so that Jezebel's husband can have the land. 1 Kings 21:9 and she wrote in the letters, proclaim a fast and set Naboth at the aid of the people, and set two worthless men opposite him, and let them bring a charge against him, saying, you have cursed God and the king, then take him out and stone him to death. And the two worthless men came in, sat opposite him, and the worthless men brought a charge against Naboth in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth has cursed God and the king. So they took him outside the city and stoned him to death with stones. They bear false witness. They get this man killed. And what is the punishment that God decides to do? God sends Elijah the Prophet to them to proclaim God's judgment in 1 Kings 21:19 and you shall say to him, thus is the Lord, how have you killed and also taken possession. And you shall say to him, thus says the lord, in the place where dogs licked up the blood of Naboth, shall dogs lick your own blood. Verse 21. Behold, I will bring disaster upon you. I will utterly burn you up, and will cut off from above every male bond, or free in Israel. Verse 23. And of Jezebel the Lord, he said, the dogs shall eat Jezebel within the walls of Jezreel. Deuteronomy 19:16 warns that if a malicious witness arises to accuse a person of wrongdoing, then both parties to the dispute shall appear before the Lord, before the priests, the judges who are on office in those days. The judges shall inquire diligently. And if the witness is a false witness and has accused his brother for falsely, then you shall do to him as he had meant to do to his brother. So you shall purge the evil from your midst, and the rest shall hear and fear, and shall never again commit any such evil among you. Your eye shall not pity, it shall be life for life. Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, foot. God sends upon Jezebel and her husband the same judgment that was promised in the law of God, that that very thing that you falsely accused someone of, and what it has brought upon their life that will come upon yours. And so they all were pronounced a horrible death because they bore false witness out of hearts of jealousy, out of an abuse of power, out of greed of gain. Now, this law of God is very unique because throughout God's word, when he gives laws, he is appointing those laws to be instituted and enforced and decided upon and adjudicated by judges as a case is brought before them. And judges, just as we have in our countries today, they have the ability to show grace, to consider all the facts, and to have mercy on someone who's been accused. Even if they have guilt, they can show mercy. But in this instance of God's law, he emphatically commands the judges who is instituting and adjudicating the law, to not show any grace or pity on someone who is a false witness. Grace under the discernment of the judge can be shown to someone who has been accused of something, if grace may be afforded to them, depending on circumstances. But a false witness may not receive pity. That is why the phrase hand for hand, foot for foot, and so on is used, which is a Hebrew idiom for value. For value that whatever they were falsely accusing you of, that exact consequence that would have come upon you must now come upon them without Pity. Why do I mention all of this? Because it gives us a glimpse into the mind of God, of how seriously he sees it when a false witness comes forward. Yet what about Jezebel's other, more famous sins? It was indeed Jezebel who brought in the pagan worship of BAAL and Azeroth into Israel and instituted them as the national gods of Israel. She is known for cruelly hunting down the prophets of Yahweh to wipe out their witness of the one true God. Scripture records that even the prophet Elijah despaired for his life and thought he was the only prophet left who had not been killed by Queen Jezebel. Her lust for blood and control can likewise be seen even in the gods she worshipped. Baal, also called Molech, was a God of war and routinely worshipped through sacrificing infants to him to appease his wrath and and gain good fortune. Likewise, Azeroth, the goddess of fertility and sexual perversion, whose worship frequently included sexual sins and prostitution. Scripture says that Jezebel was no stranger to hunting down the innocents to be murdered, celebrating sexual perversion and idolatries. So what was so special about her sin of bearing false witness? In this story we see that Jezebel states that Naboth was cursed God and the king. Not only did she write a deceptive letter, but she likewise accused an innocent man of cursing God, a false accusation on God's behalf. God calls Jezebel's sin of bearing false witness the same as murder. And in the story we see how her act of bearing false witness led to to literal murder. So in this, God makes a point that false witnesses and lying tongues are as much of an abomination to him as hands that shed innocent blood. There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers. The true spirit of Jezebel is not what we have been taught. It's not limited to any one gender. Rather, it's a sin that anyone can commit, as Scripture reveals. And the warning of Scripture to all who bear false witness, who use power to bring harm or who devise wicked plans, is that your sin is equal to murder. And as in the story of Jezebel, as you do to others, so will be required of you unless you repent life for life. This is a solemn warning and wake up call. Do not fall prey to the sin of Jezebel. See brothers and sisters, Satan wants us to act like the world and to do his job of tearing the body of Christ apart. He is the false accuser after all, is he not? And if we have any fear of God at all, then we will be slow to cast any judgment when we hear about something. We will demand for the two to three witnesses. Because today charges are no longer established by two to three witnesses. But one story in the media has become enough. And I'm not just talking about traditional media like the news. I'm talking about the media that you're on as well. Social media. Someone can now say anything about someone else and it's assumed that the charge is correct. We hear something and we say, oh really? Wow, I'm so glad that you're talking about this. Tell me more. Our society is ruled by the next social media post, like comment and share. We circle around whatever is controversial and juicy, especially when it's about someone we don't particularly like. And to be honest, this makes me nervous for us all. I can expect false reports among the world media. They have persecuted the one who has come before us. They will persecute us as well. The world eats their own like vultures circling a corpse. How much more so will they come after the children of God? But as followers of Yeshua, we must hold to the standard of the Scriptures alone, which demands of us no less than two to three first hand witnesses to establish a charge about any matter. Deuteronomy 19:15 tells us the following. A single witness shall not suffice against a person for any crime or for any wrong in connection with any offense that he has committed. Only on the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses shall the charge be established. We cannot let rumors and gossip be what establishes truth to us, lest we partake with them. And until something is established according to the standard of Scripture, then it is nothing but a rumor. And I want to remind you that the very reason that our Messiah was killed and murdered was because of a false witness. This is the sin that that put the Savior of all of humanity on the cross. The sin of bearing false witness. And so today, when we are doing good, those who have evil in their hearts, like Judas, like the certain Pharisees who came against Yeshua, they will attempt to bear false witness about us as well. It's they've done it to him, they will do it to us. But the question is, what will we as believers do? Because it was so called believers who nailed him to the cross will you be a so called believer, really a false witness who will not see the face of God lest you repent. Or will you be a true witness continually, A true believer, One who demands the evidence of two to three witnesses to establish any charge against anyone for any wrongdoing, as the Bible commands us. Even if today you bear false witness and you think you get away with it, you think, well, they'll never find out I did it behind their back. You will still stand before God. He has seen it all. And what a terrifying thing it is to fall into the hands of the living God. And if a charge is established in the truth according to the required witnesses, then we will take appropriate action. As a body. We will hold people accountable. That is what God has called us to do. To protect the innocent, to protect those who have been neglected, who have. Against those who are abusing power, against those who are abusing children and men and women alike. We have to stand for justice. But let everything we do be established and truth. That is my message to you today and that is what I believe. The Father wants us to be a people known for our truth. Because if we just spread rumors, how, when we have something truthful to say, will people listen? They will just think, you're at it again, you're busy with it again. You're just casting more rumors again. Even if you're busy speaking the truth today because you spoke rumors yesterday without verifying it. How can you be taken seriously today? And so you see, your entire witness for the gospel of Christ is now negatively affected by because you liked to go around spreading things, even if it was with good intentions. But it doesn't matter if it's not truth, it's not truth. And you have then borne false witness. That includes if I hear something and I tell it to someone else, I must guard my mouth and make sure that something is truthful and correct before I dare sharing it with someone else. Father, I ask that you would come upon us all and put a healthy fear of God in us. That when we speak of living human beings, children made in your image, that we do so with fear and trembling. That we with care handle the word of God. That we would ask for the two to three witnesses before any charge can be established against any person, no matter whether we like them or not, no matter what the charge says. Father, I ask that you would help us have your heart of justice and mercy and grace and hope. But Father, where there is wrongdoing, I pray, Lord, that you would protect those who have been done wrong against who've suffered abuse Father I thank you that you have come to tear down the strongholds of false witnesses Yeshua you yourself died at the hands of false witnesses and you know it intimately and so I ask Yeshua that yout would remind you'd people of the seriousness of this matter as to how youw see it yourself Help us to never bear false witness against you Yeshua like we have done in our sins when we declared crucify him forgive us of our sins make us new in your image and help us to never speak things that we ought not to speak again Father I ask that this sin would be extinguished from your people once and for all we would not have feet that is swift to run to evil or ears to run and ask to say what is it what is it Tell me more but let us be slow Help us to be just in the name of Yeshua I pray this Amen thank you for joining me like this Video subscribe and comment below what you think I'll see you in the next one Shalom. Sam.

What was the true sin of Jezebel? From conspiracy to abuse of power, the Bible issues a sober warning: God hates lying tongues as much as hands that shed innocent blood.

A 'Jezebel spirit' has often been used to describe certain women. Is this about gender? Or can anyone act in the spirit of Jezebel? This is about truth, justice, and repentance before a holy God.
