The Trumpet of Resurrection — Feast of Trumpets 2026

The Feast of Trumpets is arriving, and it's the biblical feast that celebrates the second coming of Christ. And it's a feast not only about His return, but what that moment means for me and for you. The resurrection of the dead. But what does the Bible teach us resurrection will practically mean? What are all the differences between the fallen body And the resurrected body? Will you be able to walk through walls, become invisible, or will your body be physical? Will you even look like yourself? What exactly died when Adam and Eve ate of the fruit, since their bodies seem to have remained? Today, we're going to see that the resurrection will change Everything. Not only our bodies, but our relationship with God. The Feast of Trumpets is an unfulfilled biblical feast, meaning that its prophetic significance is to be fulfilled still in the future. And that's why it's so relevant for us today. Paul describes it in 1 Corinthians 15:51, saying, Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. People love to quote these verses about the twinkling of an eye when talking about the end times and the rapture. And so that's oftentimes where our mind focuses. But for a moment, I want us to hear what the scriptures are actually saying here, that in the twinkling of an eye, the trumpet will sound, the dead will raise imperishable, and we shall be changed. Changed. Notice that Paul is detailing the resurrection, that as quickly as you can blink, believers will be raised from the dead and changed into new resurrected bodies that are not like the fallen bodies. We see that the Feast of Trumpets is all about resurrection. That if you don't understand the resurrection, you cannot understand what the Feast of Trumpets really means. Now, before we can understand this resurrection, we first need to be reminded of why we need a resurrection in the first place. Firstly, we need to understand something: that you, as you are, You cannot enter the kingdom of God. Seriously, Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:50, I tell you this, brothers, flesh and blood cannot enter the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. See, you are perishable. You are able to die. You cannot enter the imperishable kingdom. You are flesh and blood. If I cut you, you'll bleed. You cannot enter the Kingdom of God. This is a problem. As you are, you are fundamentally incompatible with the Kingdom of God because your flesh and your blood is corrupted. It's inclined to sin. Have you noticed how hard it is to not sin? And your flesh and blood is under the curse of sin and death. Your body is actively dying. We're all dying, and there is once a day appointed for us to die, and then the judgment. Now, at this point, I'm sure that there's someone out there thinking. You must be fun at parties. And you may be right, but bear with me. The fall in the garden caused Adam and Eve, their descendants, and all of creation to be placed under this curse of death. This is why animals kill each other, why people get sick, why they sin so easily, and why they die. God said all of this would happen. But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die. Now at this point we should just take a step back and ask a logical question. I mean, it says in the day that you eat of it you will die. But anyone who knows how the story goes knows that Adam and Eve didn't physically die the day that they ate of the fruit. So what does this mean? I want you to look at the moment that they ate of the fruit in Genesis 3:7. It says, Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked, and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths. So we're reading about how their eyes were opened, their vision changed, and they realized something that they hadn't realized before— that they were naked. They were naked before they ate of fruit, and they were naked after they ate of the fruit. So what changed from then to now for them to realize their nakedness and for them to want to cover themselves. After they ate of the fruit, they felt different. They felt naked. They felt ashamed and afraid, and this shame caused them to want to cover their nakedness. And suddenly they realized that their sin would change everything, including the way that they are perceived by one another, And by God, so they hid themselves. And this is our natural inclination too after we've sinned—to hide our sin from others and from God. So what died that day? A few things. Firstly, Adam and Eve's perfect conscience died that day. From a perfect conscience of innocence. For there was no sin, no shame, and with nothing to hide, to a defiled conscience of shame. And something else died as well— their immortality. The perfect immortal body that they always had died in the instant of eating. Their perfect, eternally youthful bodies immediately became mortal. Something new came into the picture, something that we call aging. Remember that what we call aging today was not a thing for them, but suddenly it is. And if you think about it, what we call age is a clock tracking the cellular decay of the body towards sickness. And death. When we think about how old someone is, in the back of our minds there's always this nagging feeling of the older that they are, the less time they likely have. And as God said, the curse of the fool is Genesis 3:19, For dust you are, and to dust you will return. The makeup of their body is of the dust, and to dust they will return. This curse of the fall would spread to everyone. Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, Because all have sinned. Sickness and death is approaching us all, and the question is, what will await us after death? This is a painful question that haunts all people at some point. Most people try not to think about this question too much, so they stay very busy and distracted with this world And even years can go by without pondering this because it's just too uncomfortable to stop and think. But I want to submit to you that in this moment right now is a moment in your life where you're going to stop with me. Because nothing is more important than overcoming death, if that were possible. And this is where the story of Adam and Eve goes next. After Adam and Eve hid away, they heard their Father's footsteps. It says in Genesis 3:8, and they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day. And the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God Among the trees of the garden. The sound of their Father's footsteps were no longer pleasant to them, but now frightening. Not only had their immortality died, but their relationship with God was damaged. Not because God removed Himself from Adam and Eve, but because they removed themselves from Him. It says in verse 9, But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, where are you? And he said, I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked, and I hid myself. We see that sin carries consequence, but from the moment of sin, God wanted to repair and restore. Not abandon and condemn. Adam and Eve's greatest danger was not losing their immortality, but losing their Father. Because while God can save them from death, for He is God and He is life, it takes two to heal a relationship. And if Adam and Eve continues in shame, hiding from God and refusing their repentance from sin, He cannot save them, because you cannot save someone who doesn't want to be saved. And therefore, Adam and Eve's greatest danger wasn't the death of their flesh, but the death of their clean conscience. For their shame was so great that it separated them from the only one who could restore them back to eternal life, because they believed a lie. A lie that it's too late. A lie that God is going to condemn them. A lie that God is here to judge them and punish them. Well, the truth was God was walking, calling their names. And this is what happens to a lot of people today. They have Sinned, as we all have, and whether they fully take ownership of that sin or not, the shame comes in and remains, and that shame will remain forever until their conscience is cleansed. And the only one who can cleanse their conscience—they're hiding from. They hide from God, even hiding behind lies that this is somehow God. God's fault because taking our own accountability and repenting feels painful and dangerous. But is it more painful and dangerous than eternal death? I want to share with you that God has brought us hope for resurrection and new life through Yeshua the Messiah, Jesus Christ. Who whilst being from heaven and having existed from the beginning, being higher than all with a name above all names, he was lowered and born into this fallen world as a mortal human of flesh and blood. As one of us, he was clothed in this fallen nature of Adam and Eve. And yet he never sinned. It was ordained for the sin of Adam and Eve and every person who's ever lived and who will ever live to be placed upon him. I'm talking about every murder, every betrayal, every lie, every abuse, every abandonment, every trauma, everything done against you and everything you've done against others. He took the punishment For it all, one Corinthians fifteen twenty-one says, "For as by a man came death, Adam, by a man has also come the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive." Made alive not only so that their body may be resurrected from the dead. But so that their conscience may be resurrected from dead works. How much more will the blood of Christ, through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Hebrews 11:22 says, "Let us then draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith." With our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. This is what changes everything for us regarding the Feast of Trumpets. That feast which looks to the return of Christ. When the trumpets blow and He appears in the clouds, The question is, will our conscience be clean? For if our conscience is defiled, we will be struck with a fear upon perceiving Him, for then we will have no confidence before God's throne, and be in fear of judgment. But if our conscience has been cleansed by the blood of Christ, we will be filled with With hope at His coming, for we eagerly await to see Him, to meet Him face to face. So ask yourself: If the trumpets sounded today, have I been sprinkled with the blood of Christ? Have my conscience been cleansed? This is what it means to have our conscience. resurrected from the dead. But resurrection is even more than that. Paul refers to the likeness of Christ's resurrected body to teach us about what our resurrected body will be like. We read in 1 Corinthians 15:49, just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, Adam, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven, Yeshua. First, we need to understand that the glory of the resurrected body is of a completely different nature. 1 Corinthians 15:39 says, for not all flesh is the same, but there is one kind for humans, another for animals, another for birds, another for fish. There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies. But the glory of the heavenly is of one kind, and the glory of the earthly is of another. Paul is simply saying that just as your body is different from the body of an animal, just as your flesh is different from that of a fish, so your earthly body is different from a heavenly body. We're talking about 2 very different things here. Then we have to wonder what's gonna be different. I want to share with you eight ways in which the resurrected body is different from the flesh. The first thing we read is that the resurrected body will have great power and glory. We read in one Corinthians fifteen forty-three about the body, and it says it is sown. in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. Our earthly body is subject to weakness and fatigue in body and in mind. The resurrected body, on the other hand, has a supernatural strength and power. All of us have been fatigued. All of us have Weaknesses— sometimes our weaknesses frustrate us, whether in body or in mind. But in the resurrected body, neither your body or mind will ever keep you back from perfectly fulfilling God's callings or doing what is set before you in God's kingdom. The second thing about the resurrected body that we read from Scripture is that it is Imperishable. 1 Corinthians 15:43 says, so is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. What is imperishable cannot be destroyed. It is immune to decay, meaning that it will never experience disorder, brokenness, disease, deterioration. It is immortal, meaning it has deathlessness. It cannot die. This is what the resurrected body will be like. It will be so full of life from God himself. The third thing that we can read about the resurrected body is that it is born from heaven. I want you to remember that As we read, the curse of the fool is that you were born from dust and that you will return to dust. Genesis 3:19. However, the resurrected body is born from heaven. One Corinthians 15:48 says, "As was the man of dust Adam, so also are those who are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven Yeshua, so also are those who are." Of heaven. And so just as those born of the earth will return to the dust, those born of heaven will return to their Father in heaven, in the place that He has prepared for them. However, being born from heaven doesn't mean that the resurrected body is merely spiritual and not physical. In the first century, the Gnostics believed that the resurrection is just spiritual and that there is nothing physical about it. We should not fall into that same error. We see that the Scriptures clearly tell us that number four, the resurrected body is tangible and physical. It's not a ghost or merely spiritual. We see, for example, how Jesus appeared to His disciples and others. In His resurrected body, and to prove to them His physical reality, He asked people to touch Him. Luke 24:39, He says, "See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I." have. To prove His physical reality, He not only asked them to touch Him, but He ate fish before them. It says in Luke 24:42, They gave Him a piece of broiled fish, and He took it and ate it before them. So whilst Yeshua was tangible and physical, at the same time, we see that the resurrected body is unbound by the worldly physics We are bound by today. We see, for example, that Jesus vanished and even walked through locked doors. Luke 24:30 says, "When He was at table with them, He took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them, and their eyes were opened and they recognized Him, and He vanished from their sight." We also see Him walking through locked doors in John 20:19. On the evening of that day, the first day of the week. The doors being locked where the disciples were for the fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, peace be to you. We see that the resurrected body interacts with matter in a way that our biology simply cannot. And so we see it is physical while also not being bound by physics as we know it. Number 6, we see that the resurrected body is recognizable and yet altered at the same time. We just read of how the disciples sometimes had difficulty immediately recognizing Jesus at first. We also see in John 20 how Mary mistook Jesus for a gardener at the tomb just after His resurrection. Or how the disciples initially didn't recognise Him on the road to Emmaus in Luke 24. At the same time, He retained the scars from His crucifixion, even asking Thomas to touch them in John 20. This shows us that the resurrected body is recognised by retaining the core identity of the person, while also being transformed Into a greater outer glory. Number 7, the resurrected body is fully directed by the Holy Spirit. While today believers desire to be led by the Holy Spirit, yet because of our flesh, we at times fall short of the glory of God. But the resurrected body will be perfectly directed and sustained by the Holy Spirit Without interference from the flesh, for the flesh will be no more. And number 8, the resurrected body will allow us to see God face to face and live. Remember that God told Moses no one can see God's face and live. But we read that Paul tells us that a time is coming at the resurrection of the dead Where we will be able to see God's face. 1 Corinthians 13:12, for now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. This means that our relationship with God will be much more intimate when we are in our resurrected bodies. We will be able to be with Him face to face and live because flesh that's fallen cannot survive in His presence. And we will be able to know God fully as we have been fully known. Something I'll be honest, I just can't wrap my mind around that we will know Him Fully? But that's what it says. So, brothers and sisters, I don't know about you, but I can't wait for that time. Above all, that time where I can be so close with my Father. So now, as we are arriving at the Feast of Trumpets, where we are told to blow the trumpets in celebration, Now we know exactly what it means to blow the trumpets. Because we're hearing that same sound that we will hear on the day of His return, when trumpets will sound from heaven, the earth will quake, and the Son of God will appear, and we will be changed. The old will be put away, and we will put on the new resurrected body that is able to be with Him at His table. The body that puts off all sickness, disease, weakness, everything that has kept us down, everything that's kept us away from Him, the temptations of sin itself. I can't wait for that day. This is a gift. This is something I want you to think about this Feast of Trumpets and put your hope in this. Do you see how the blowing of the trumpets is the announcement of a miraculous supernatural change? And we are now standing at that Feast of Trumpets. And yet there are things that God wants to change in us and in our lives. Today. For which we don't need to wait for the resurrection of the dead for, for Him to do it. Because He still does miracles today. Many of you have trials and prayer requests. And I want to ask, let us trust our Father this Feast of Trumpets, that when we blow, God will bring resurrection. change onto our lives and onto our circumstances. For our Father is in the business of resurrecting the dead, even dead dreams, dead relationships, dead careers, broken hearts, or broken bodies. No matter what you need changed in your life today, let us pray and believe in faith for that resurrection. Father, I thank You for the gift of life through Your Son, not by what we have done, because we could never save ourselves. Lord, we are fallen. We are in need. We have sinned. Yeshua, thank You for coming for us. Jesus, thank You for cleansing us. of our sin and allowing us to be resurrected, to come face to face with You. Thank You for preparing a place for us in Your Father's Kingdom. Thank You that we can have a clean conscience because we believe in You, because we don't trust in ourselves but in You, because You are the only One who could save us. And because of that, we can have peace because You are faithful to save us, that You call our name when we sin and when we are in shame, that You walk in the coolness of the day looking for us. Thank You, Lord, for wiping away our shame, our sin, our defiled conscience, and putting our sin as far as the east is from the west, making us white as snow. Father, many of us have things in our lives that we need to change. First of all, we repent of our sins. We ask that You would make us clean, that You would allow us to be more like You and walk worthily of the name of Christ. Many of us also, Lord, have trials, things in our lives that need to change, things that are out of our control, things that our family members— wherever it is, Lord, we ask that You would come and heal broken bodies at the sound of my voice now, in the name of Yeshua, that any sickness will go in the name of Yeshua, any disability, disorder of the body would go in the name of Yeshua. Any trial that they're facing right now, Lord, I pray You would take them through it. You would heal and deliver. Father, any broken relationship, that You would heal that in families today, that You would come and do a mighty work. mighty work in the hard-heartedness of men. Father, I pray for us to become the light, the trumpet that blows everywhere we go. When people see us, that they would be reminded of the hope that is to come, that they could see the hope of a resurrection that they have access to if they were to put faith in You. Help us to proclaim that message, my Lord. Yeshua, above all, for dying for us and making all of this possible. We praise You. We thank You. We glorify Your name. In the name of Yeshua the Messiah.
