The Forgotten Bible Laws… That actually still matter (Deut. 24-25) | Verse by Verse Pt. 2

Transcript
This world is a difficult place. Not only are there men hurting men, but there are just accidents, things that just go wrong. And the Bible is not shy to address the realities of the life that we are living in right now and how we should live right now. See, I think that when you look at how God gives us in his laws these if this happens, then do this. It's an incredible call for us to step up to this opportunity to love, to see a trial, not just as a trial that we wish would go away, but to thank God for the opportunity it brings us to shine our light in a special way, in a way that the world has never seen before. So let us respond and biblically. But if we want to respond biblically, let's know how the Bible tells us to respond. Welcome. We're busy now with this series looking through the book of Deuteronomy at these miscellaneous, sometimes strange instructions that God gives us on how to live our day to day with practical, real situations. Today we're going to talk about a variety of things such as human trafficking, leprosy, jealousy and evil, speech rules for debt collectors, how we should treat hard workers or contractors, the sins of the fathers upon the children, and what the Bible says about that. We're going to read about leaving what you don't need for someone else, extending care towards guilty parties and allowing a guilty man his own certain rights. We're also going to talk about this strange verse regarding women and how they shouldn't seize men by the private parts. And we're also going to talk about equal weights and measures. All right, we pick this up in this verse by verse study. In Deuteronomy 24:7 we where we read if a man is found stealing one of his brothers of the people of Israel, and if he treats him as a slave or sells him, then that thief shall die. So you shall purge the evil from your midst. In this verse we're seeing a side of God that is actually quite precious. See, if we want God to be the God of love who is gracious and merciful and who cares for those who are oppressed, he also needs to bring judgment upon those who are doing the oppressive things. And right now we're dealing with of the most oppressive situations that exist, human trafficking. When a man steals someone else. Here God is telling us from his perspective how he sees human trafficking and how severely he sees it. And he says that thief shall die, and he said it so that you shall purge the evil from your midst. In other words, these laws are actually supposed to stand as warnings in of themselves that God is basically warning us as the hearers of these to say, I don't want you to even think about doing any of the things I'm telling you right now because this is what you would deserve if you did it. And then if someone did it, you would punish them so that no one else would do it, so that the evil would be stopped in your midst. Because if there is no punishment, people would more easily continue in that sin. We see in the story of Joseph that Joseph was captured by his brothers, thrown into a pit, and eventually sold into slavery. This very verse. And law is what they transgressed. And yet in that story, Joseph ultimately truly chose the path of showing grace to his own brothers when he was in the position of a ruler over Egypt and in a position of power where he could have thrown his brothers into prison to get what they deserve. Right? But notice how instead of invoking the full measure of the law towards his brothers as to what we could all say they deserved, he decided to show them this incredible act of mercy. And they are all in that moment weeping over him. They are distraught in the reality that he is both now their brother, their judge, and the one that they have sold into slavery and that he now is extending a hand of grace towards them. This is also a picture of Christ, of course, who would later come because Jesus would come. And even though we as humankind put sin upon him, we mocked him, we hurt him, we nailed him to a cross, and we are the ones who are supposed to die. And yet he's there dying in our place. And he does it, he says, with joy, with joy. He went to the cross for us. He didn't invoke the full punishment of the law upon us. He relented, had acts of grace and mercy. And that's why you and me are breathing, living right now. Because we've all, we've all done things to deserve what we call the death penalty. Separation from God forever because of our unholiness and our actions. And if we don't think that we are deceived, for the man who says he has no sin is a liar. When we are faced with different situations, whatever that is, we should always try and choose the path of grace and mercy. That does not mean that the person gets away scot free so they can hurt someone else. If someone is a danger to society, like a human trafficker. Yes. You know, let them be locked up if that's what they need. Absolutely. And let them pay for what they have done. But also Recognize that we should extend our forgiveness on a personal level towards that person. And let the judges do what the judges do best, bringing judgment upon those such as the human traffickers. May all human traffickers be exposed. May all who are treated as slaves or sold into slavery be set free. Okay, let's look in verse eight. And we see next regarding Lapras disease. Take care in the case of a Lapras disease, to be very careful to do according to all that. The Levitical priest shall direct you as I commanded you so you shall be careful to do. Remember what the Lord your God did to Miriam. Okay, so there's a reference here to what God did to Miriam. And I'll just remind you of Miriam and that situation. That's Numbers 12, Verse 1. And we read this Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the cushite woman whom he had married, for he had married a cushite woman. And they said, has the Lord indeed spoken only through Moses? Has he not spoken through us also? And the Lord heard it. Okay, so remember that Miriam is a prophetess. According to the scriptures, just after they came through the Red Sea, she was also the one who led them in that song of Moses. So she is a woman of God. Right? She certainly knows the Lord. But there's something strange going on here between her and how she sees this Kushite woman who is now Moses's wife. And she's criticizing, along with Aaron, Moses, because of this woman. A cushite is a woman of very dark skin. And it's likely that there was a issue of racism involved here, if not some other type of cultural divide. And there was likely then also jealousy involved, because if you see how she speaks, has the Lord only spoken through Moses? Has he not spoken through me too? And everyone else? Right. This kind of disrespecting of the authority that God has given Moses over the congregation. And so we see here in the same way this warning, because what happens to her? She is struck ultimately with a leprosy. Leprosy is the. The outward punishment that everyone could see that she has done something evil and wrong. Now what has she done? I mean, she spoke evil. She spoke out of the evil of her heart, out of jealousy. So that leprosy that was already in her heart now only became manifest on the outward appearance. God is warning us that if we have evil hearts and do not discipline our flesh, we will be exposed. And people would see that on our outward in some form or fashion. Let's be careful not to be like Miriam. Let's be that doesn't mean that we can't speak out against actual leadership issues in the appropriate manners, following the appropriate channels, guiding to the person and then going to the, the elders that are closest with, you know, your witnesses. And then, you know, following that process that Yeshua laid out for us, you know, we can absolutely and we should, if there is serious sin going on, something really concerning going on, we should take action. But that does not give any, you know, we can't say there's the leaders that have fallen. So that means that we don't need to have any kind of accountability. The Bible says submit than one to another, right? So let's honor those that God has placed in leadership. I'll also read to you what the author of Hebrews says regarding this. Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls as those who have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you. I'll leave it there. Let's go on to the next one. Deuteronomy 24, verse 10. Guys, I know I can't say Deuteronomy. My, my South African accent struggles with it. Forgive me in Afrikaans, my home language. I we say Dieternumian and I think I can't even say that. So here we go. Verse 10. When you make your neighbor a loan of any sort, you shall not go into his house to collect his pled. You shall stand outside and the man to whom you make the loan shall bring the pledge out to you. This is interesting. He's giving instruction to debt collectors, right? Like you know, when you go to someone's house, he says don't go into their house. Of course this is like an age old stereotypical thing by now, isn't it that people would just who are debt collectors would come and barge into the house. Sometimes they would even beat up the man. They would sometimes just grab of some of his possessions and leave with it, right? There's this violation of his space, of his security, of his privacy, of his family at times of his. Yeah, his humanity. So God is saying, look, that is a thing, but you are not allowed to dishonor a human being because of possessions in this world. Even if someone owes you something that is something of this world, don't let something in this world, money or whatever, become more important than how you honor the person that owes you that money. Now that doesn't mean that God is not saying you're not allowed to collect the pledge from someone because the reality is at times, things like this can be necessary, but he says how it should be. He said, stand outside. So dear debt collectors, if you're a debt collector, that one is for you. Stand outside. And this is also why police officers, by the way, in this world are at least they should be standing outside your home if they have something to ask of you and they should ask you to come outside and talk to them. And if they want to come into the house, right, they need to have a warrant. That's. This is ancient talk for warrants and things of that nature. And it's quite amazing that God is even giving this to the society he's giving it to, considering that this was supernaturally honorable in that no one was really doing this stuff in the ancient world until God came along and told them, guys, let's treat one another better. Okay, next, if he is a poor man, you shall not sleep in his pledge. You shall restore to him the pledge as the sun sets that he may sleep in his cloak and bless you and it shall be righteousness for you before the Lord your God. So he's just saying that if someone lends you money, right, and you owe him this debt, and if he is a poor man, don't sleep on it, make sure that you, you give that back to him quickly so that he doesn't, you know, be worried. He's not worried about that. And so that he could rather bless you. And God is saying how you treat that poor man is going to be either righteousness for you or judgment for you before the Lord your God. Because of course, as Yeshua also said in another place, what you do to the least of these you, you do unto me. Okay, next we're going to look at hired workers. I want you to think about this like contractors today. You shall not oppress a hard worker who is poor and needy. And whether he is one of your brothers or one of the sojourner, or in your land within your towns, okay, you shall give him his wages on the same day before the sun sets. For he is poor and counts on it, lest he cry out against you to the Lord and you be guilty of sin. So God is saying, hey, if someone's out, he's doing your plumbing, he's, you know, fixing your house, he's mowing your lawn. I don't know a contractor of any sort is helping you, working for you. Make sure that you pay promptly. Be known for someone who pays promptly. Be known as someone who does not oppress hard labor and who hard. You know that guy when he comes again. He should just have. It should be a pleasure for him to work for you because he knows you're going to pay on time. He knows you're going to be honorable in your dealings and business. And even, especially he says, if God says, if it's a poor man, do it quickly because he counts on the money. He's going to go hungry if you don't pay him today. So make sure. Otherwise God says he's going to hold that against you and you're going to be guilty of that sin. Yeah. Wow. I love how gracious our Lord is. I love how he cares for the poor. I love how he cares for the oppressed. And that's why we should care for them, give them opportunity, pay them on time, love them for where they're at, whether it was their fault, you could say it's their fault. That's why it doesn't matter why they're in the position they're in. Love them for where they're at. Love them out of it so that they can come to a place of recognizing the God you serve. Amen. Yeshua said, I will not always be with you, but the poor will always be with you. Yeshua, Jesus, he recognized the fact that the poor will be with us, and he, in that way, encouraged that when he ascends, let us take care of the poor, because that would be like taking care of. Of him. Okay, Deuteronomy 24:16. Here we go. Fathers shall not be put to death because of their children, nor shall children be put to death because of their fathers. Each one shall be put to death for his own sin. Okay, so this is an obvious. Kind of. Sounds obvious, right? You're not gonna. Why would I punish. You know, send a son to jail or punish him in any way for the sin of the father. However, I want to take this a bit further for you. This also means that when a child's father is a sinner, he's done something really bad. We should not treat the child in light of his father's disgrace. Right? We should give the child his own chance to make his own reputation, to preserve his own reputation, and not to prematurely judge him by appearance of his father's sin. Each one should be punished for his own sin. Verse 17. You shall not pervert the justice due to the sojourner or the fathers, or take a widow's garment in pledge. Right. This is speaking and saying. You shall also not show favoritism to people who are of your own tribe, your own type of your own nation. And you know, show injustice to a sojourner, that is an immigrant or someone who is not from your nation, or someone who is fatherless, someone who is in a position of disadvantage. Don't have injustice towards them, show them justice, and don't take a widow's garment and pledge. In other words, a widow is against someone who is in a difficult position. And you don't want to take the little they have away from them as a pledge for whatever they owe you. Because rather, let them have that garment, let them have that little thing that protects, that provides for them, provides a need for them. Because again, God is exalting the humans, the human being's life more than the possession that they owe you, right? This. This person is more valuable than what they owe you. And you have to love them more than what they owe you. Otherwise, if you love things more than people, you will go after people for things and trample over people for things and abuse people for things. And you. That means you have a treasure in your heart that is absolutely unhealthy. So let's move on to the next verse. I'm going to go here in verse 19. When you reap your harvest in your field and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, the widow, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. When you beat the olive trees, you shall not go over them again. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow. When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not strip it. Afterwards. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless and the widow. You should remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt. Therefore, I command you to do this. This is a command, guys. Command, command. He's saying that when you have more than you need and that you are in this case, you know, you've got olive trees, you've got a harvest of some sort, you've got grapes in your vineyard. God has blessed you with a produce of sorts. And that's you however you make your livelihood. Back then it was agriculturally. Today we pay directly in other curr. It doesn't matter that which we have above and beyond of our needs. Let's be generous. God is saying, don't go over and pick every single grape, rather leave some just on purpose for the other people who don't have a field like you do, who don't have the job that you do, who don't have the business you do, who aren't in the privileged position that you are, leave things for them. And God says, let me say this again. I command you to do this. God is saying, I've given you. I've blessed you because I love you so much. I love you. I want you to prosper. And that is why I have prospered you. But now, in this prosperity that you have, I need you to share with those who are in not and who aren't in the same position you are. And perhaps this prosperity you have is a test. Maybe it's the Lord giving this to you to see how will you steward it. You know, the Lord, maybe he gave you a little and you steward it well. And it grew, and it grew, and it grew. And ultimately you've got this big harvest, right? And now the question is, when you have so much, how are you going to steward that? Because the more it gets, the more tempting it becomes to keep more and more for ourselves in greed. You know, the world will say, well, pd, I deserve this. I worked for this. I studied for this. I'm qualified for this. I deserve every grape on every branch, right? God says, I have blessed you. Everything that you have is from me. I am the one who provides. I have given it. I can take it away. God gave you the intellect. He gave you the hands. He gave you the health, he gave you the family. He gave you everything. The job, all of it. So the question is, what are you going to do with what he's given you? Recognizing it's not just and of yourself. It can disappear in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye. It can go away. He's given it. So steward it well, because our God is a giver. He gave his life. How much more should we want to give? A thing that's passing away that you can't take into the next life. Anyway, give away today and you will have treasure in heaven. That's what he said. And you know, sometimes what you need to give away is time. Because for some of us, our time has become our most prized possession, right? And we have a lot of things we need to get to. I want to tell you a little story quick. I just a month ago or so, I was driving into town and. And I got this flat tire on the way, and I'm like, oh, man, you know, it's never a good day when that happens. It feels like, right? And I stop alongside the road and it's. I'm quite far from like a tire shop. And so I have to Call someone, and, you know, they come and they tow my car there. And now it's getting late, and the tire shop is closing. They can't help me anymore. And I'm there, and I'm like, kind of a little bit like, man, you know, I had a lot of things to do still, and this is keeping me from those things now. And I feel like, oh, God, please just use this, Lord, I give this to you right now. You know my heart. I just offer this up right now. Lord, I just give this to you right now. And I eventually need to call an Uber because there's no way for me to get home because my car is, you know, at the shop now. And, you know, an Uber driver comes and picks me up, and as I get in the car, start talking with him. And soon I realize, this man, he is hurting so much. His daughter is struggling with deep issues. And I asked him, hey, can I just pray for your daughter? Can I ask the Lord to move in your life and in your family's life? Because he's just worried. And I pray for him, and we pray in the car together for his daughter. And, you know, I remember how grateful he was. You know, sometimes you don't. You're not sure, like, how much it meant to someone, but for this man, it was. He was so grateful. He was just going on and on about it, you know, he was just saying, you have no idea how much that means to me. Thank you for praying for me. God has given me this Uber with you. He. This has been an appointment, you know, and he's just been. I just imagine he's just been praying all day for his daughter, and here comes a stranger, and I'm interceding for him, you know, and, you know, I realized when I got a little frustrated earlier, when initially when my tire went out, right, I was like, God, forgive me for even feeling a little frustrated at my car's tire right now, you know, earlier, because, God, thank you, God, thank you for putting that nail in the road. Thank you for that construction site that I could drive by, which is what happened. You know, I drive by construction site, and that's why I got the flat tire. I'm like, God, thank you. Thank you. That they were. That they made the mistake to throw their nails in the road because I got a flat tire and I got in an Uber with a man who needed you, and I was able to share you with him, and he had his hope reignited. Thank you, God. So, you know, sometimes. All I'm saying is that that was the edge of my field that day. That was the edge of my day in time, right? This is the last part of my day, the part of my day that I could have had for myself, but I gave it up freely for the work of God. For what is his work, to feed spiritually, to give people food spiritually. And that's. That's what happened in that car. So leave the edges of your fields physically, spiritually. Give up some of your time to the work of ministry. That's the other side of that. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. He is so good. Okay, I'm going to move on. I'm going to go to the next chapter. Deuteronomy 25:1. Here we go. If there is a dispute between men, there's a lot of that going on. If there's a dispute between men and they come into court and the judges decide between them, acquitting the innocent, condemning the guilty, okay, this happens thousands of times every day. Judge decides, you're innocent, you're guilty, something needs to go down. So when that happens, if the guilty man deserves to be beaten, or any punishment for that matter, let's just insert the punishment here. The judge shall cause him to lie down, be beaten in his presence with a number of stripes in proportion to his offense. 40 stripes may be given him, but not more. Lest if one should go on to beat him with more stripes than these, your brother be degraded in your sight. We see a few beautiful principles like pd. What was beautiful about what we just read, actually, this is an incredible act of grace and care and giving rights to people even when they have been found as guilty. These are instructions given specifically to a judge. And he says that a judge should oversee that the punishment that is given to someone is carried out fairly. In other words, that the jailer or the man who now takes this guy away for whatever punishment that is, that that man does carry that punishment out according to the letter, not giving him more punishment than what the judge prescribed. And that God is actually saying it is the judge's responsibility to ensure that that happens, that it is fair and what is carried out in practice. We also see that God gives a limit on the punishment that an offense can have. In other words, just like we see in law today, every country has this. It will say, if someone has stolen something of this value, the maximum offense of punishment for this could be so many years in prison or whatever. And so this is the same principle. There has to be a limit on the punishment for a specific crime. And then lastly, we see that the punishment should be in proportion to the crime. In other words, if someone steals a loaf of bread because they're hungry, you're not going to punish that person the same way as the guy who murdered someone else or. Or the guy who defrauded millions of people of millions of dollars. Right. There has to be an understanding of motivation. There has to be an understanding of how serious the crime was. And then the punishment should be there, but should be in proportion to that crime. All right, these are today. It sounds kind of obvious, but these are amazing that God gave this to an ancient people who in that time did not have any ideas of true justice yet. And we see today, by the way, in cultures, certain cultures, they do not abide by what I just read. The judges absolutely are corrupt. They throw people in jail and forget them there. Even for small crimes. We see that they punish people very severely for very small crimes, or they let people get away with serious crimes. Basically, these instructions are at the foundation of a society that is just because if at the level of judges, on the governmental level, this cannot be upheld, then we just start seeing society unravel at the edges as people do not walk in justice. Because if our judges die, and why should we? Is how people think? Right. So very important that we actually even apply these principles and how we treat one another, that we don't treat people unfairly. All right, let's go on to the next 1. Deuteronomy 25:11. When men fight with one another and the wife of one draws near to rescue her husband from the hand of him who is beating him, and puts out her hand and seizes him by the private parts. The then you shall cuddle for hand. Your eye shall have no pity. Okay, well, let's get into this one. This is certainly one that a lot of people have wondered about. This sounds so strange. What is going on here? And I'll say that one risk we run into with this is we read into it a lot of things sometimes. So let's just read it for what it is. I want you to see how this first sentence, when men fight one with one another, this is referencing what it says, two men at least are brawling, they're fighting with one another. In fact, when you look at with one another, this word for one another is yachad. And that just means to be a unit. So these guys are both as a unit, engaging in this fight. Okay. This is not a situation where there's a man and he is grabbed by the shirt, beat up for his wallet, and he's being mugged. This is a situation where they. They're like a bar fight situation. They're just coming at one another. Okay? So it's in that sense an equal playing field in that they are both engaging. And then we see this, that a woman, when she draws near to rescue her husband from a hand of him is beating, that's that she's not allowed to grab him by the private parts. Now, by the way, it's going to be very natural for any woman to want to rescue her husband or intervene and try and stop a fight. And of course, there's nothing wrong with that. The scriptures are not coming against that desire for a woman to care for her husband and try and get her husband out of that situation. But the issue is specifically orientated towards this seizing of him by the private parts. The reason for this is, you have to understand, biblically speaking, that God is very concerned with lineage and with reproduction and with children and with, you know, God wants us to have children. God wants us to have families. God is for families. He's given us marriages for one to another and for children to be had and for our children to hear of his ways and to learn and for them to teach the next generation and the next generation and the next generation. If the people of God stopped having children, there would be no people of God left by the time of the Antichrist. And God is coming back for a bride, a people. That means that, guys, we should be having offspring. All right, I think we agree on that. But I'm trying to put this in perspective for us to understand why this is such a very serious thing that this woman would be doing by attacking a man in this place. Right? It is literally going to harm the seed, and that's the. The transgression. In this way also, it is shameful for a woman to touch that of another man. Of course, right? So the question is, we have this brawl going on, and now we have a woman doing this specific thing, and God is saying, this is not acceptable. I understand you want to save your husband and rescue him from the situation, but that is still unacceptable even in that situation. There is not equal weights and measures in this situation being applied. For the woman is not just going after that man. She is going after all of that man's children that the Lord is calling that man to have one day. Okay? So that's why in the next verse we read, you shall not have in your back two kinds of weights, large and a small. You shall not have in your house two kinds of measures. A large and a small God is combining these verses with this situation of a woman grabbing a man in that way because he's making the point that this is an equal way to measure, that she is causing harm in a way that is not in good measure towards the situation that is being faced. Okay, I hope that makes sense. Let's go on. We're going to see now this. You shall have a bag of two kinds of weights that specifically is referring to. In the ancient world, you would have weights that are accurate because the way that they measured things is that they had a scale, right? One of those scales where you put a weight here and then you put whatever on this side and then you see, you know what is heavier and that's how you determine how heavy something is. It's basically the way that something is calibrated. So if, if we could take this to a modern example. If you've ever bought a used car and you've wondered if maybe they turned it back to say it's got less miles on it than it actually has, that is a modern example of unequal weights of measures. They have messed with the calibration and that is now fraudulent. In other words, lying about the true value of whatever so that you can take a larger cut from a deal. The desire that many have to take advantage of someone's lack of knowledge regarding something and then lying to them for personal gain. Let me give you another example. When you go and you want to sell something to one of these shops, like a pawn shop, you see that there's this risk where that person can come and offer you way less money than what they know this thing is worth that you're putting on the table because maybe they know you're in a vulnerable position and you need to get rid of this ring right now because you need to feed your family. So they're going to give you little money for this gold because, well, they're going to take advantage of it. That's what God is saying is wrong. It's dishonest taking advantage of someone not be using equal weights and measures. Let's look at another example. What about Amazon? We all have bought something from Amazon before or from a store where they can. Where we can return something with a return policy. Maybe you bought something from ebay and you know there's a return policy. But here's the deal. That policy is say 30 days so that you can try and see, make sure that you know this, this thing that you have works suitable and it is as advertised according to the Description of, of what you're buying right now, that's all good and fine. And if you're not happy, then you can return it. But if you bought something with the motivation and intent to just use it and return it, that's wrong, right? Because you're breaking. There's a social contract here that you're breaking. It's dishonest. If you wanted to rent something, then you rent something. You pay a rental fee and you rent that wedding dress. You don't buy a wedding dress or wear it on your wedding day and then return it the next day to Amazon, because that's a free. I could have. I got a free rental out of that. I've used it now. But now someone is actually going to be paying because you've used it. Someone is at disadvantage, is at a disadvantage because you've now been dishonest in your dealings. So here's the thing is, when we are walking uprightly, let's walk uprightly. When we are saying we are going to be people of God, let's walk as a people of God. Let's not take advantage of others. Let's be honorable in the agreement that we enter with businesses and people and let's make sure that we have equal weights and measures and how we treat people. God is calling us to be that light to the nations. And I call you, as the scriptures do, to shine this light with joy. Because it's a joyful thing to be able to represent him well. Because then people can look at us and be like, wow, you are so different from all my other customers. You are so different from all my other friends. That is what people should see when they see you and know that it is because of your God instead of, don't let them look upon your bad works. How you're trying to be a sneaky dealer, or how you're trying to take advantage of others. And then they curse God because of your actions and because you are representing him. And if you misrepresent him, you're taking his name in vain, you're hurting his kingdom and you're failing not just God, but the person and everyone else around you. This is a joyful call. And I just, you know, when I read these verses, I want to go out and I want to be a blessing. I want to make sure that if someone did something, you know, I want to pay them as soon as I can. If someone is in need, I want to fill that need. If whatever I face, I want to be on top of things and I want to go above and beyond. That's what the call of my Messiah is for you and for me. So thank you guys for joining us. May the Father bless and keep you, shine his face upon you, lift up his counters upon you, give you his shalom. Father, I thank youk for giving us yous word and examples on how we can love one another. And you'd better. Father, help us to represent yout well, even in the mundane practicals of life. Help us Lord, to go above and beyond. Help us Lord, to when people look at us, be this light that they say, wow, who is this God that causes this man's heart, this woman's heart, to be so sacrificial? Father, I ask that you would make us successful and prosperous in our businesses. Help us to be generous with what you've given us. Help us to be generous with the work that you've given us, to share that ready with anyone who's in need. Father, I thank you that you open doors for us and you give us all that we have. We praise you and we glorify you in the name of Yeshua, the Messiah, the King of Kings, Lord of Lords and Ruler of Heaven and Earth. Loving your neighbor sounds good, but when REAL life happens, how do we practically love when it's hard to do, when accidents happen, or when it places us at a disadvantage? God gave various miscellaneous laws addressing every-day life, and today we are exploring some new 'strange' laws of the Bible!
In this teaching: Laws regarding... (Deut. 24-25) • Human-Trafficking justice • Leprosy - Jealousy and evil speech • Rules for debt collectors • How to treat hired workers/contractors • Sins of the fathers upon children • Leaving the edges of your field • Judicial rights of a guilty man • Women shouldn't seize men by private parts • Equal weights and measures
